Ready to make the jump to wheel-to-wheel racing? The SCCA Novice Permit is your gateway to competition, and Edgar Lau Racing offers a structured, professional evaluation process to help you earn it with confidence.

As a licensed SCCA evaluator and professional racing driver with experience spanning GT3, LMP3, GT4, and multiple championships, Edgar brings real racing credibility to every evaluation — giving you not just a signature, but the knowledge and preparation to actually compete.

How It Works:

• Step 1 — Online Classroom Session (Video Call)
  A one-on-one virtual session covering SCCA rules and regulations, racing etiquette, flag rules, and what to expect on race day. You'll come away prepared and confident before you ever hit the track.
• Step 2 — On-Track Evaluation (2 Sessions)
  Two dedicated evaluation sessions at the track during an advanced group HPDE day. Edgar will assess your driving skill, situational awareness, and traffic management — the core competencies required for safe wheel-to-wheel competition.

Prerequisites:

• Minimum 15 track days of experience
• Currently eligible to run in the Advanced run group at your HPDE organization

What's Included:

• One-on-one online classroom session (rules, regulations, race craft fundamentals)
• Two on-track evaluation sessions in the advanced run group

• Evaluation documentation upon successful completion
